These are the figures estimated for this installation, not metered results. What a site actually saves depends on its electricity supply contract and how much of its own generation it uses during the working day.

A roof-mounted array fitted during the refurbishment and extension of Bromsgrove School's dining hall, tackling the building's energy inefficiencies.

This project was the refurbishment and extension of the existing dining hall at Bromsgrove School, providing a state-of-the-art food hall able to cater for 1,400 students a day. The proposals set out to address the inefficiencies of the building, and a roof-mounted solar array was part of that provision. Comera Energy were engaged to design, supply and install the photovoltaic system as part of the works rather than as a later retrofit.

Catering buildings have a pronounced daytime load — cooking, refrigeration, ventilation and lighting all peak while the sun is up — which means a high share of the array’s output is consumed on site.

The installation generates around 31,407 kWh a year, offsets 7,323 kg of CO₂, and saves roughly £8,010 annually — an estimated £200,200 across its lifetime — turning a heavy-use building into a more efficient one.
